Rice University volleyball had three three players named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Team. Senior Jessie Boulavsky was named to the first team, while senior Jennifer McClean and junior Tracey Lam were selected to the second team.
The teams are voted on by college and university Sports Information, Media Relations and Athletic Communications professionals who are members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.3 grade point average and be a sophomore in academic and athletic standing.
Boulavsky earned her third-consecutive District VI first-team honor as a double-major in psychology and pre-med. The Houston, Texas, native owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was named the 2009 Rice University Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Boulavsky landed a spot on the Mizuno Invitational All-Tournament Team earlier this season.
Tracey Lam and Jennifer McClean each earned District VI second team honors. Lam was named the 2008 C-USA Libero of the Year and was also placed on the 2008 All-C-USA second team. The junior libero holds the school record in digs, while maintaining a 3.68 GPA in economics and Asian studies with a minor in business.
McClean owns a 3.83 GPA in economics with a minor in business. The senior outside hitter ranks first on the Owl squad in double-doubles with 11 and was named MVP of the USF/Asics Challenge in September.
Boulavsky is now on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
