Chao Falls in Title Match at Baylor HEB Invite

WACO - Rice University teammates Julie Chao and Rebekka Hanle advanced to play on the final day of the Baylor HEB Women's Invite Sunday.

Chao posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Martina Beckmann of Armstrong Atlantic State to get to the championship match of the consolation draw after losing her first match on Friday. Chao won three straight matches to get to the championship before losing to Mississippi's Connor Vogel 6-2, 6-2 Sunday afternoon.

Rebekka Hanle advanced to the semifinals of the main singles draw. Hanle, the No. 8 seed of the singles bracket, beat Ole Miss' Vogel on Friday in the Round of 32 for the first of three straight victories. Sunday morning she lost a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 decision to the tournament's No. 2 seed, Baylor's Csilla Borsanyi.
