
Rosa Named C-USA Tennis Player of the Month

IRVING - After capturing his first individual tournament championship of the season, Rice senior Bruno Rosa has been named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month.
During the month of September, Rosa won the 10th Annual Midland Collegiate Invitational.
Rosa came back from a set down to beat Josh Zavala of Texas 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match. He went 5-0 at the tournament with wins over players from Texas-Arlington, Oklahoma and Baylor as well as a 6-3, 7-6 win over Rice teammate Oscar Podlewski.
Rosa, a native of Florianopolis, Brazil, also won back-to-back matches to open play at the HEB Baylor Invitational before having to retire due to an injury during the Round of 16.
Rosa and the Owls return to action later this week with the main draw of the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships being played in Tulsa, Okla.
