Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States. Approximately 184,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed by the end of this year and education is key to increasing awareness and knowledge about breast cancer. This year, Rice volleyball is honored to be a part of the Side-Out Foundation and Dig Pink campaign.
The players, coaches, parents, spectators and survivors will be in for a special evening on Friday, October 30th as the Owls participate in "Dig Pink." This event takes place as the Owls take on East Carolina at 7 p.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse on the Rice campus.
Wear something pink and get into the game for free! Pink Rice Volleyball T-shirts will be on sale at the game, with all proceeds going toward the Side-Out Foundation. Help Rice volleyball and the Side-Out Foundation raise funds and awareness in the fight against Breast Cancer.
The Side-Out Foundation is an organization that enables women and men affected with this dreaded disease to regain control of their lives and live it to the fullest. Research units nationwide benefit from Side-Out's fundraising. These units focus on cutting edge targeted diagnostics and therapy. Side Out also helps organizations working directly with individuals with cancer to provide medical and emotional support.
