Chao Wins Two at Riviera/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Julie Chao picked up a pair of wins at the Riviera/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying Saturday on the UCLA campus.
Chao faces off against Maya Johansson of Georgia Tech Sunday at noon PT with the winner advancing to the qualifying draw of the tournament.
"Julie did an excellent job of dictating play all day," head coach Roger White said. "She relied on her shots in tight situations."
Chao started the day, splitting sets with Kentucky's Sarah Woestmann. Chao regrouped and emerged with a convincing 6-2 victory in the third set.
The San Diego native took on Jessi Robinson of Duke in the second round and tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win to set up the showdown with Johansson.
