HOUSTON -- After winning her second-consecutive race, Rice senior Marissa Daniels was named the Conference USA cross country female athlete of the week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Daniels dominated the field at the Texas A&M Invitational, winning the individual race in 17:19, a full 15 seconds ahead of the field of 99. The victory is her second in consecutive weeks as she once again led the Owls to the team title in commanding fashion. Rice tallied 30 points, well ahead of second-place Texas' 62 and the host Aggies' 71. The 5,035-meter course in College State, Texas, featured 12 teams.
Up next for the Owls is a trek to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday afternoon.
