
Colwick Clears 17-feet to Win at Texas Twilight

Freshman Jason Colwick cleared 5.20 meters/17-0.75 to win the pole vault and qualify for the NCAA regional meet Saturday at the Texas Twilight meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Colwick's clearance moved him to third on Rice's all-time list.
Pablo Solares cruised to another lifetime best in the invitational 1500 meters, clocking 3:42.95 to finish second behind NCAA indoor mile champion Leonel Manzano of Texas and take over the No. 3 spot on the Owls' all-time list. Manzano outkicked Solares to win in 3:42.10, a Myers Stadium record.
In the open 1500, freshman Scott Zivick was second with a personal-best 4:02.46, and Omar Wright was third in the high jump with a leap of 2.05m/6-8.75.
The Owls host the Rice Twilight meet Thursday at Rice Track & Soccer Stadium.
