
Adam Named C-USA Indoor Newcomer of the Year

Rice freshman Phillip Adam was selected as Conference USA's male indoor track and field Newcomer of the Year in a poll of league coaches, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Adam, a native of Santa Maria, Calif., set a school record and finished second in the heptathlon with 5,073 points at the conference's indoor championships. He also placed ninth in the shot put (14.08m/46-02.5) and ended the indoor season with the eighth-best pole vault (4.30m/14-01.25) mark on the C-USA Top Performance List.
