Luke Stadel had a season-best in the discus Saturday and won the shot Friday to lead Rice's men at the Texas Southern Relays. Stadel improved on his NCAA regional qualifying mark in the discus, winning with a toss of 53.34 meters/175-0, and won the shot at 16.24/53-3.5.
The Owls also got wins from freshman Jason Colwick in the pole vault and Omar Wright in the high jump. Colwick cleared 4.88/16-0, while Wright had a season-best 2.13/6-11.75 clearance.
Rice returns to action Friday at home at the Victor Lopez Bayou Classic.
