Powell Sixth in Triple Jump at Texas Relays

Jason Powell improved his regional qualifying mark in the triple jump Saturday on the final day of the 79th Texas Relays, leaping a wind-aided 15.76 meters/51-8.5 to place sixth. Three of Powell's jumps were beyond 50-feet.
The Rice men compete Saturday in Houston in a triangular meet against Texas Southern and Sam Houston State.
