Graham Named Central Region Coach Of The Year

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - After leading one of the youngest Rice teams in years to a tenth-consecutive conference championship and to within four outs of reaching the College World Series, head coach Wayne Graham has been selected as the 2005 Central Region Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Graham and seven other regional coach of the year winners will be honored by the ABCA at the organization's annual convention Jan. 5-8, 2006. There will be an awards presentation for the honorees at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago on Jan. 6.
Other ABCA 2005 Regional Coaches of the Year include Gary Gilmore, Coastal Carolina (Atlantic), Paul Keyes, Virginia Commonwealth (East), Richard Jones, Illinois (Mideast), Augie Garrido, Texas (Midwest), Ed Blankmeyer, Saint John's (Northeast), Pat McMahon, Florida (South) and Pat Casey, Oregon State (West).
Graham directed the Owls to a 45-19 record last season, his 14th year at the helm of the Rice baseball program. For his career he has been named the national coach of the year a total of seven times in 25 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
