Owls Win at South Carolina Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Owls won all five of their matches on Friday at the South Carolina Invitational at Columbia, S.C.
A quartet of Owls were victorious at South Carolina on Friday. In A-2 singles, Rodrigo Gabriel, seeded sixth in the flight, swept Jackson State's Bernado Bachino 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round. Hoony Shin defeated James Eason of The Citadel by the same score, while Jason Mok held on for a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over Lisandro Picardo.
In A-B doubles flight action, Gabriel and Mok, the top seeded duo in the flight, beat Daniel Dossetor and James Eason of The Citadel 8-4. Shin paired with Ralph Knupfer to down Joe Bates and Jon Staton of Wake Forest 8-4.
The Owls' teammates were also competing late at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational in Midland. Both tournaments continue through Sunday.
