Men's Tennis: Estep Enters Texas Tennis Hall of Fame

Estep was a three-time all-America for the Owls, a four-time letterwinner (1969-72), and he won the Southwest Conference singles and doubles championships in 1970. As a professional, he won eight singles titles and 16 doubles titles, and he played on the World Championship Tennis Tour and for World Team Tennis.
Following his playing career, Estep became a professional coach for Martina Navratilova from 1983-86, during which she won 10 grand slam singles titles and 13 grand slam doubles titles. He also coached other high-profile players on tour such as Arantxa Sanchez Vicario. Estep then served as the Director of Tennis at Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth from 1991-99.
Estep becomes the seventh Owl inducted into the hall of fame, joining former players Art Foust (1959-61), Ron Fisher (1959-60), Wilbur Hess (1933-35), Jim Parker (1989), Jack Turpin (1950-52) and former coach Sammy Giammalva (1959-72).
All current and former inductees will be invited to the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame in Waco for the first annual Hall of Fame Celebration on April 21, where the new inductees will be officially welcomed into the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame.
