Women's Tennis: Owls Host Rice Tennis Classic

HOUSTON - The 2000 Owls make their home debut this weekend when they host the Rice Tennis Classic at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium Friday through Sunday.

The Owls are led this year by lone senior Erin Waters and junior Judith Hagedorn. The tournament marks the first home match for Rice freshmen Karen Chao, Yasmin Fisher and Annie Goodrich. Goodrich won all three of her matches at the Lady Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., two weeks ago in her first collegiate tournament.

The Rice Tennis Classic also features players from TCU, UTEP, Southeastern Louisiana and Auburn-Mongomery. There are three flights each of singles and doubles. Singles are slated to begin at 9 am each day, and doubles starting at 3 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 pm on Sunday.
