Women's Tennis: Rice Falls 5-1 to Arkansas

HOUSTON After moving indoors to Chacellor's Racquet Club due to inclement weather in the area, the Owls suffered a 5-1 loss at the hands of 52nd-ranked Arkansas Sunday afternoon.
Senior Elle Lewis had her eight-match win streak snapped by Chin Bee Khoo, currently ranked 19th in the nation, in a 6-4, 6-3 loss at number one singles. The Razorbacks swept the Owls in each of their five singles victories. Freshman Jeri Gonzales grabbed Rice's lone win of the day, rallying to defeat Tara Reid 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 at number five singles. Doubles were not played.
The Rice women (8-9) make their final home appearances of the season next weekend, hosting Oregon Friday at 1 pm and SMU Sunday at 11 am.
