Women's Tennis: Rice Sweeps Through North Texas, UCSB

Seniors Elle Lewis and Charlotte Feasby set the pace in the Owls' first match of the day against the Gauchos. Lewis won 6-1, 6-4 against UCSB's Cindy Ammann at number one singles, while Feasby rallied to defeat Shannon Wilkins 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. Doubles were not played.
Lewis, Feasby and sophomore Judith Hagedorn each blanked her North Texas opponent in the second set. Lewis dropped Siayareh Rambally 6-1, 6-0 and Hagedorn posted the same score against Melissa Hodges at number three. Feasby defeated Catherine Alain 6-3, 6-0 at number two. Lewis and Hagedorn also teamed up at number one doubles for an 8-2 victory over Hodges and Kristin Beedy, marking their fifth win in the last six matches and their 22nd win of the year.
The Owls (12-10) now have almost two weeks off before they return to Fort Worth for the Western Athletic Conference championships April 28-30.
