Each of the Owls' three singles victories were in the top half of the ladder and took three sets to decide. Playing at the top spot, senior Elle Lewis rallied from losing the first set to defeat Martina Nedorostova 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Fellow senior Charlotte Feasby, playing in her first singles match since Feb. 18 when she suffered an injury, also rallied to overcome a one-set deficit, downing Lisa Dingwall 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 at number three. Junior Erin Waters, playing at number two, had to win two tiebreakers to secure her victory, defeating Olivia Karlikova 7-6 (10-8), 1-6, 7-6 (7-5). Serving at match point, Waters aced her opponent for the "W."
Lewis and partner Judith Hagedorn, a sophomore, recorded an 8-3 win against Cassie Haas and Kathryn Scott at number two doubles, while sophomore Natalie Briaud and freshman Jeri Gonzales had an 8-5 victory over Karlikova and Leah Killen at number three to secure the Rice win.
