Women's Tennis: Elle Lewis Earns WAC Tennis Honors

DENVER, Colo. Rice senior Elle Lewis has been named the Western Athletic Conference's women's tennis player of the week.

Lewis, a native of Miami, Fla., blanked Jelena Lukie of Northwestern State at number one singles in the Owls' home opener Saturday, 6-0, 6-0. She also teamed with sophomore Judith Hagedorn at the number one doubles spot to defeat Brandi Mathews and Katy Wallace, 8-6. The 51st-ranked Owls won the match 9-0.

Rice will return to the court Friday when it takes on UTEP in El Paso.
