The Owls began the day strong, winning two of the three doubles matches to claim the first point of the day. Senior Kevin Hargrove and freshman Matthias Mathaes joined forces at number two to defeat David Matthew and Oliver Schweizer 8-4. Newcomers Alexis Pourchet and Cody Jackson were victorious in their match with Brett Lucas and Zoran Korac, winning 8-4.
Mathaes claimed his first number one singles victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Schweizer. Jackson recorded the Owls third point at number four singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Lucas. The Anteaters battled back, though, with three three-set victories. The match came down to a three-hour marathon at the number three position, where sophomore Fabien Giraud eventually fell to Matthew 4-6, 7-5, 7-6.
The Owls continue their road swing, traveling from the West Coast to the East, to take on UNC-Charlotte on March 4 and Furman on March 5 at Greenville, S.C.
