Women's Tennis: Owls Fall to Syracuse

Hagedorn defeated Masha Kabanova 6-4, 6-3 at number four singles to improve her singles record to a team best 18-9 overall and 5-2 in dual-matches. Freshman Jeri Gonzales rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Shervin Saedinia 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the sixth position. Gonzales also played a hand in the Owls third point, teaming with sophomore Natalie Briaud at number two doubles to claim an 8-3 victory over Syracuse's Katie Thompson and Zuzia Boracka.
The Rice women, now 2-5 on the year, continue their stay at Ithaca, N.Y. this weekend, taking on Penn State on Saturday and Cornell on Sunday.
