2005-06: 2006 Conference USA Most Outstanding Singles Player of the Championship... After battling through a tough dual schedule, came through for her team in dramatic fashion at the Conference USA championship to help the Owls win their first league crown... Secured Rice[apos]s C-USA quarterfinal upset of No. 55 and top-seeded Marshall by defeating Karolina Soor 6-4, 6-4 in the last match... Scored Rice[apos]s first point in the semifinal with a 6-1, 6-1 win against third-seeded Houston[apos]s Vicky Simpson... Turned in the championship clinching victory with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph against Brooke Rambally of second-seeded SMU... In the fall, teamed with Blair DiSesa for a stellar run at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships as the pair advanced to the semifinals.
High School -- 2005 graduate of St. Andrews School in Nassau, Bahamas... An all-around athlete, also an MVP on the basketball, softball and volleyball teams in addition to finishing second in the javelin at the national meet... Named to the presidents[apos] list each year and received the principal[apos]s award at graduation.
Personal -- Full Name: Alanna Elizabeth Rodgers. Born: Feb. 28, 1987 at Nassau, Bahamas. Parents: John and Polly Rodgers of Nassau, Bahamas (one brother, one sister). Cousin, André Rodgers, played professional baseball for 10 years with the Giants, Cubs and Pirates. College: Will Rice.
