Jerry Pickle joined the Rice staff in June of 2008 as the Assistant AD for Football Operations.
He came to Rice after 24 years at Baylor, including the last 13 as the director of football operations. He joined the Baylor program full-time in 1986 as recruiting coordinator and administrative assistant to Hall of Fame coach Grant Teaff.
In his current role, Pickle handles administrative responsibilities for the Rice football program. His broad range of responsibilities includes team travel, game-day operations, coaches and player tickets, recruiting operations, budget, compliance, camps/clinics, officials for spring and fall practices, and training table in addition to serving as the program liaison with Rice Housing & Dining. Pickle also manages contracts with XOs, ARMS, STRIVR, JustPlay and serves as the coordinator for any bowl or international games.
Pickle began his coaching career at the high school level and then coached five years in the college ranks in Mississippi and Missouri before going to Baylor. He has both bachelor's (1976) and master's (1980) degrees in health, physical education, and recreation from Delta State in Cleveland, Miss., where he lettered in football and track.
Pickle is married to the former Julie Turner and they have two sons, Matthew and Jonathan.
