Chris Terry is in his second year at Rice as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football and Women’s Swimming after arriving in February of 2020. Terry was formerly a full-time assistant for Texas Football, under Yancy McKnight, during the 2019 season, and Director of Athletic Performance for Midlothian-Heritage High School from 2015-2018.
During his time at Texas, the Longhorns finished the season 8-5 and Alamo Bowl Champions over #10 ranked Utah. Under his guidance at Heritage, the 2016 Jaguar football team saw an unprecedented 11-2 finish in just their first year of varsity football and followed that with 12-1 season the following year, posting an unbeaten regular season and advancing to a second straight Regional Championship game.
Terry played four years of football for the Texas Longhorns (2011-2014) under head coaches, Mack Brown and Charlie Strong. In addition, he interned as a Strength and Conditioning coach for Olympic Sports, under Master Strength Coaches, Donnie Maib, and Sandy Abney (2014-2015). Terry also gained valuable experience training under Master strength coaches, Jeff Madden, Bennie Wylie, and Pat Moorer, while playing football for the Texas Longhorns.
Terry graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, in December of 2014, with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a focus in Sport Management and a specialization in Strength and Conditioning. He was also named to the 2014 Academic All Big XII football second team, a 4-time Big XII Commissioner’s Honor recipient, and a 4-time Texas Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recipient.
A former walk-on, Terry earned a starting spot on special teams at the beginning of the 2012-2013 seasons where he played on kick-off, kick return, field goal/extra point, and punt/punt return.
Terry is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR-1) Certified, Square-One Certified and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Clinical and Mental Health in Counseling (LPC) through Liberty Universities Online graduate program.
A former huddle leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Terry is also a volunteer leader at the Porch Live Houston and other various service projects around the city of Houston.
