Zach Werlinger is entering his third season at Rice University as an Offensive Quality Control Coordinator, working with the quarterbacks.
Before joining the Rice staff, Werlinger spent the past three seasons (2020-2022) as an offensive graduate assistant at the University of California, Berkeley, assisting with the Golden Bears’ wide receivers. During the 2020 season, he had the opportunity to work with current Rice offensive coordinator, Marques Tuiasosopo.
In 2019, Werlinger served as an offensive graduate assistant at Northern Arizona University, where he helped coach the quarterbacks.
During the 2018 season, Werlinger was the wide receivers coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), a Division III school in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Originally from Phoenix, Werlinger played quarterback at the University of Arizona, under Rich Rodriguez, from 2014 to 2017. He graduated with a degree in Communications from the University of Arizona and completed his Master’s degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley during his time as a graduate assistant
