Baseball: All-Freshman and second team American All-conference selection by league coaches after leading all conference freshmen with six saves, which also tied for fourth nationally at the end of the regular season… Six saves were tied for third overall in The American… Posted a 3-4 record and 4.56 ERA in 20 appearances, striking out 39 in 47.1 innings… 2-2 with a 3.34 ERA in 11 relief outings in conference games and fanned 24 in 29.2 innings… Ranked fourth in The American in conference games with a .204 opponents’ batting average, sixth with 11 hitters struck out looking, and seventh with a 3.34 ERA… Second on the team with six double plays… Worked a season-high four innings four times, earning the wins vs. FAU (3/28) and Tulane (5/15), and a save (for fellow American All-Freshman Ethan Sanders) at Wichita State on 4/25… American Pitcher of the Week after saving the final two games of the sweep at Charlotte. (4 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 Ks) … Earned his third save at Charlotte, allowing just one hit in three scoreless innings, and his fourth the next afternoon with a scoreless ninth… Picked up his second win with four hitless innings vs. FAU on 3/28… Credited his first career win in the Owls’ 8-6 win at ACU on 3/7… Gave up two runs in the eighth to lose the lead, but rebounded in the ninth after Rice re-took the lead and retired the Wildcats in order on 13 pitches to end the game… First Owl football player to play baseball in the same season since Jackson Tyner in 2018-19...played in all 13 games as a true freshman but missed Spring drills to pitch for the Owls.

A member of Scott Abell’s first recruiting class who made his debut on special teams in the opener at Louisiana and played in each of the first seven games, and recorded his first career tackle in his first game, taking snaps on defense (Prairie View).
Wimberly High School
Two-sport standout who was a major contributor in Wimberley winning the Class 4A Lone Star Cup, which honors the state’s best overall athletic and academic programs… Led the Texans to appearances in the 4A state championship semi-finals in football and the state championship game in baseball while earning Academic All-State honors in each sport…. Pitched and hit Wimberley to the 4A DII state championship game, tossing a one-hitter in the Regional final, and was named to the 4A DII All-State Tournament team… Hit .389 with two homers and 31 RBI in 29 games and was 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 41 innings on the mound… Academic All-State second team in baseball and honorable mention in football.
Personal: Son of Ronnie and Kendra Thames… Birthdate: June 2… One sister …. Father played football and was a two-time All-Southland selection in baseball at Sam Houston… Mother played basketball at Texas A&M Corpus Christi… Uncle (Charlie Thames) was an All-American reliever at Texas and was drafted by the Angels in the fourth round of the 2000 Draft. Cousin (Damon Thames) played baseball at Rice and was a two-time All-American and was named the 1998 ABCA National Player of the Year after hitting .426 with 26 home runs at Rice… He was inducted into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.
