Ryan McNerlin joined the Owls’ staff in September of 2024 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and is responsible for designing and implementing training sessions that improve the performance of Rice’s baseball and men’s golf student-athletes.
McNerlin came to South Main after one season at Texas A&M Corpus Christi where was an Assistant strength and conditioning coach, leading the activities for the Islanders’ baseball and softball programs.
Prior to his time at Corpus Christi, he served as a graduate assistant at the University of Kansas, assisting with a number of the Jayhawks’ programs. He also worked at Nebraska Omaha and TCU in addition to time in private sector.
McNerlin played safety at Pittsburg State while completing his undergraduate degree in exercise science and earned his master’s in exercise science from the University of Kansas.
McNerlin lives in Houston with his wife Madeline, their dog Ozzie, and cat Champ.
