Honors at Rice
2025: Enjoyed a breakout season after coming into the year with no hits in nine career at-bats… Led the team with a .406 OBP and six HBP, second with a .285 average, .448 slugging, 11 doubles, 30 RBI, 77 total bases, and 29 walks, and tied for second with five home runs… Led the Owls in AAC games in hitting (.295) and OBP (.410), second in slugging (.491), RBI (18), walks (15), and tied for second with four home runs… Threw out 12 of his last 28 attempting to steal, including six of 17 in AAC action… Caught three of five UTSA runners in the final series of the season, Roadrunners were 27 of 31 (.871) against the rest of the league… Made 34 starts at catcher, 14 at first, and two as the DH… Hit .274 with four homers and 18 RBI as a catcher, .318 with 10 RBI as at first base, and .286 with a homer and one RBI at DH… Collected his first career hit as part of a 3x4 day with a double, home run, and three RBI in the Owls’ win over Sam Houston in the 2025 home opener… Named to the Astros Foundation College Classic All-Tournament team after slashing 444/.55/.778 against Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M with a double, triple, and a pair of walks along with two RBI… Drove in six in the series at Memphis, including a career-high four in the opener… Slammed a two-run homer in the 8th inning vs. Charlotte to break a 5-5 tie as the Owls won the series 7-6… Homered in back-to-back games for the first time in his career (5/15 &16 @UTSA)… Closed the season with a seven-game hitting streak (5/10-21) when he hit .481 (12x27) thanks to four two-hit games and one with three hits, with two doubles and two home runs, and drove in seven… Hit .571 (4x7) with a double and two runs at the AAC Championship and also threw out both runners attempting to steal.
2024: Made his starting debut at catcher vs. Incarnate Word on 4/9... Made an appearance on the mound at Texas A&M and induced a double play against his only hitter. Reached base for the first time in his career and scored his first career run in his first career start at DH (vs. Prairie View)... Made his collegiate debut with a start against LSU.
Prior to Rice: All District 19-6A selection at catcher as a senior for coach Kyle Humphries at Katy Tompkins HS who joins his brother Graiden on the Owls … Hit .330 at a senior with a .492 OBP, .499 slugging, and .991 OPS … Threw out 50% of base runners and posted a .990 fielding average … Hit .337 in his career with a .503 OBP, .512 slugging and 1.015 OPS and Tompkins was 57-10 in his last two seasons … In addition to his brother at Rice, his father (Greg) played soccer at Tulsa from 1992-96) and his grandfather (John West) played golf at Tulsa.
