2025: Set new career highs across the board and was third on the team with 50 strikeouts… Appeared in 20 games (third best on the team), including seven starts… 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA in 11 games (three starts) at night… Struck out a career-high seven and worked a career-best 4.2 innings in his last start (@UTSA on 5/15)…Learned he was making the start earlier in the day and held the Roadrunners hitless in first 4.1 innings… 0-4 with a 6.15 ERA in seven starts this year (26.1, 33, 20, 18, 10, 29)… First three starts were consecutive Tuesday night assignments… Tossed 4.1 shutout innings at Sam Houston on 4/1, but was not involved in the decision.
2024: Made continuous strides during his first season on South Main, posting a 2-0 mark with a 5.06 ERA over 21.1 innings covering 16 appearances (1 start)… 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA and 16 strikeouts in eight AAC games (4 ER in 12.2 IP)… Stranded 11 of 14 inherited runners… Allowed only 29% of leadoff hitters to reach (5/18)… Struck out 11 in his last 8.1 innings out of the bullpen, including a pair of season-best games with five strikeouts (at South Florida on 4/21 and at Charlotte on 5/3)... Did not allow a run in two appearances at USF and picked up the win in the finale, striking out five while working a career-best 3.1 innings in relief… Came on with the bases loaded and two out in the fourth and needed just four pitches to end the threat with a strikeout… Earned his first career win with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief vs. UAB on 4/13 as the Owls won in 15 innings… Needed one pitch to close out the 9-3 win over UTSA on 4/27, with a double play… Made his starting debut vs. Incarnate Word on 4/9 and worked a career-long 3.2 innings… 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 11 innings in seven appearances on the road.
Prior to Rice: MVP of the 2023 5A Texas State Baseball Championship game as Magnolia West won its first state title in any sport with a 3-2 win over Argyle and finished 13th in the final MaxPreps National Top 25 … Drove in all three runs with a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning and ended the game by catching a sinking liner … Father, Matt Blank, won a state title with Arlington Martin in 1993 and went on to pitch for two seasons with the Montreal Expos (2000-01) … All-State selection as a senior after hitting .400, including a .599 average in the state tournament while also posting a 3-0 record with a pair of saves and a 1.47 ERA on the mound … Earned All-District 21-5A and All-Montgomery County honors playing safety in football.
