HOUSTON — Garet Boehm, Cole Green, and Colin Robson each hit home runs, including Boehm's first career grand slam, as Rice won the series from Florida Atlantic, 8-1, Sunday afternoon at Reckling Park.
Rice wasted no time, loading the bases with no outs behind two singles and walk. Two batters later, Garet Boehm hit his second home run in as many days, a shot to left field for his first career grand slam, staking Rice to a 4-0 lead.
Rice added to their lead in both the second and third innings behind home runs from Cole Green and Colin Robson.
Florida Atlantic got on the board in the sixth when Eli Small hit a two-out home run. But Rice added some insurance in the bottom half. With one out and Robson on first, Aric Anderson doubled down the right field line to put runners in scoring position. After Landis Davila scored Robson on a sacrifice fly, Green doubled to left, bringing in Anderson.
Ryland Urbanczyk went 6.0 innings to innings the win (2-2). Garrett Grant took the loss (1-2).
