Women’s Track Set for American Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM – The Rice women's track and field team is off to Birmingham Ala., for the American Indoor Championships this weekend, with the two-day meet set to begin Friday morning.
The Owls are ranked all throughout the top 10 in the conference rankings entering the meet.
Conference leader for the 400m and school record holder for the event, Barbora Malíková is the first of three Owls in rankings for the 400m, with Arayna Mickles fifth and Riana Green seventh.
Savannah Simms enters sitting in the top seed for the triple jump.
Susie Nestor is currently second in the 800m, while Heidi Nielson is seeded eighth in the 3000m.
Julia Johannesdottir is slotted second in the 60m hurdles and in the pentathlon, while the 4x400m relay team is also in second.
Saniya Friendly sits third in the American for the 60m and seventh in the 200m.
Josie Taylor is seeded fifth in the high jump, while Alice Taylor is seventh in the high jump and fifth in the pentathlon.
