Three Event Titles Close Rice’s Stay at American Championships

The 400m group had a tremendous day, capped off by Barbora Malíková breaking the meet record to win the event. Riana Green also reached the podium in third, while Arayna Mickles added a seventh-place finish.
Julia Johannesdottir broke her own 24-hour school record yet again in the 60m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 8.18s.
Rice's 4x400 team of Riana Green, Petra Taylor, Arayna Mickles and Barbora Malíková closed the night with a bang by capturing the event title with a time of 3:36.78, the best time in over 20 years.
Saniya Friendly had a phenomenal day, securing two podium visits with a second-place showing in the 60m and a third-place finish in the 200m. Friendly broke her own school record in the 60m with a time of 7.32s.
Susie Nestor had a great race, finishing fourth in the 800m, with Heidi Nielson adding a seventh-place finish in the 3000m. Miranda Schriver was eighth in the mile.
Josie Taylor reached the podium in the high jump, finishing third with a clearance of 1.81m.

"Tremendous meet and performances by our team. Highlighted by Julia's 8.18 school record and championship in the 60m hurdles. Barbora's dominant performance in the 400m, winning in 51.97s. Riana ran a personal best and received a bronze medal in the same race. Saniya being a double medalist in the 60m (second), 200m (third) and a school record in the 60m (7.32). Josie finished third in the high jump after a great clearance of 1.81m. Susie Nestor scored fourth in the 800m, Arayna Mickles seventh in the 400m, Heidi Nielson seventh in the 3000m and Miranda Schriver eighth in the mile. The highlight had to be the dominant performance in the 4x400 (Riana Green, Petra Taylor, Arayna Mickles, Barbora Malíková). They ran 3:36, the fastest time in twenty years by a Rice team. Overall, we beat our pre-meet score by 13 points, and I am very proud of our group! We need to keep this momentum up for the outdoor conference meet in Denton."
