Owls Fall to 2-2

Purdue wraps up homestand at 6:35 on Wednesday
Houston-Jackson Blank and Ethan Sanders allowed only four hits over seven innings, but six Louisiana hitters combined to keep Rice off the scoreboard as the Ragin' Cajuns took a 3-0 decision at Reckling Park on Tuesday night.
How it Happened: Blank worked out of an early jam in the top of the first, courtesy of catcher Aric Anderson, who threw out a pair of Cajun base runners attempting to steal. But the visitors scratched out an unearned run in the second and added another in the third. Sanders relieved Blank in the fourth and gave the Owls a chance to strike back, with four hitless innings while striking out six and walking one. But the Owls could only advance one runner past second, when pinch runner Landis Davila reached third on Anderson's two-out single in the seventh.
Next Up: Rice closes out the opening homestand on Wednesday against Purdue (2-1) before embarking on a three-game trip to Los Angeles to face USC this weekend.
