HOUSTON – The Rice men's tennis team will face Lamar on Friday night at the Downtown Club at the Met in Houston.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday morning in Beaumont, followed by an afternoon match against Lubbock Christian. Due to incoming cold weather, the Lubbock Christian match was canceled and the Lamar match was moved indoors.
Rice is coming off a strong weekend at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the Owls defeated Oregon 4-3 before falling to host No. 3 Stanford. Kabeer Kapasi had an impressive weekend, as his doubles team went 2-0 and clinched the deciding point in the win over Oregon.
The Owls will look to secure their 30th win over the Cardinals, holding a 29-1 advantage in the all-time series. Rice defeated Lamar 6-1 in the teams' previous meeting during the 2025 dual season. The last time the Owls faced the Cardinals at the Downtown Club at the Met, Rice earned a 4-0 victory in 2024.
