Rice junior running back Quinton Jackson was named to the American Conference's Honorable Mention list for his efforts in the Owls' 14-12 win over Louisiana on Saturday night.

Jackson rushed for a career-high 119 yards and a touchdown and added another 37 on a pair of kickoff returns as Rice won a season opener on the road for the first time since 1004. He was the first Owl to top 100 yards in an opening game since 2019 and the most in an opener since 2018. His 37 return yards pushed him past 1,000 in his career and moved him into ninth on the Rice career return yardage list (1,019).

Rice opens its 2025 home schedule against Houston on Saturday to decide possession of the Bayou Bucket, which has been presented to the winner of the crosstown matchup since 1974. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. with coverage by ESPN+.
