HOUSTON - Rice Athletics has announced the launch of the South Main Fund, a new opportunity for donors to directly support Rice student-athletes and help to ensure that Rice continues to recruit, retain, and develop the best student-athletes in the nation.
The South Main Fund will help to provide the resources necessary to remain competitive in a new era of college athletics. Donations to the South Main Fund will specifically support name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities and direct support for student-athletes.
"Rice Athletics remains committed to building a best-in-class athletics department," Vice President and Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland said, "the introduction of the South Main Fund will help us to provide the resources necessary to compete and win championships, while continuing to provide a world-class student-athlete experience."
Although separate, the South Main Fund will operate in coordination with the Owl Club, which will continue to provide support for all Rice Athletics programs. Contributions to the South Main Fund are tax deductible and can be designated for a specific program.
The South Main Collective, which was created in order to provide Rice student-athlete with NIL and internships, will continue to operate and remains an option for anyone wishing to support financially, through commercial partnerships with student-athletes, or by providing internships.
