MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The fifth-seeded Rice Owls men's tennis team is set to begin its run in the American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a rematch against the fourth-seeded Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday, April 18. First serve is currently scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Leftwich Tennis Center.
Rice is currently 13-9 and coming into the tournament after earning a win in its final regular season match against the UAB Blazers on Sunday, earning a 4-0 victory. Tulsa comes into the tournament following a loss in its final match, losing 4-3 to Memphis on the final day of the regular season.
The meeting comes after the Owls and Golden Hurricane met in the Sooner State earlier in the season, with Tulsa narrowly coming away with a 4-3 victory, coming down to the third set on the final court for the match to be decided.
Rice and Tulsa were both able to miss the first day of competition by virtue of being top-five seeds. In the men's bracket, the top-five seeds miss the first round, while the remaining six teams battle to see who will take on the top three seeds.
Live stats will be provided by iOn Court and are linked above. Live streaming is yet to be determined, as one set of courts at Memphis do not have cameras. It is currently unclear which courts the Owls will compete on.
