
Rice Readies for AAC Championships

BIRMINGHAM – The Rice Owls women's track and field team looks to have another great showing at this year's AAC Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The two-day meet will begin Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. for the pentathlon.
In total, the Owls will have 24 athletes competing in 17 events.
Saniya Friendly returns for the 60m dash after scoring in the event at last year's meet, finishing seventh. She enters with the second-fastest mark of the season for the AAC with her school record time of 7.33s.
Amelie Attenborough enters the meet with one of the top times in the mile this season, an event where she finished as the runner-up last season.
Josie Taylor and Alice Taylor are back after finishing second and third in the high jump last season. Alice also scoring points in the pentathlon, finishing sixth.
Elena Siemens will also look to improve upon her fifth-place finish in the pole vault a season ago.
As a team, the finished second with 105 total points, just shy of first-place Charlotte.
