HOUSTON - The 62nd-ranked Rice Owls will head west to The Golden State to take on 23rd-ranked Pepperdine on Thursday, February 27, before taking part in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship from Friday, February. 28 - Sunday, March 2.
Rice enters the match with a 7-3 record and a ITA ranking of No. 62, moving up one spot after taking down the Florida Atlantic Owls, 4-0, in their lone match last week. Pepperdine enters with a 6-5 overall record and a ITA ranking of No. 23, falling at second-ranked TCU in their lone match last week.
Rice currently sits at 0-4 all-time against the Waves, with the last meeting between the two coming in 2010. This will be the first neutral site match-up between the two squads.
As new ITA singles and doubles rankings did not debut this week, the Rice tandem of Arthus de la Bassetiere and Kabeer Kapasi hold steady at No. 61 in the doubles rankings.
After the Pepperdine match, Rice will remain in La Jolla to take part in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship.
The tournament features several top-ranked teams and tandems, including seventh-ranked San Diego's top-ranked tandem in the nation of Oliver Target and Stian Klaassen.
