Awe Named to All-Texas Second Team

HOUSTON--Rice senior linebacker Andrew Awe has been named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football's All-Texas College second team after posting career numbers for the Owls.
Awe led Rice and was fourth in the American Conference with 101 tackles, nearly double his previous season best of 52 set last season. He had had four double-digit tackle games during the season, including 14 in the regular season finale vs. South Florida.
His 101 tackles were the most by an Owl since Blaze Alldredge finished the 2019 season with 102, and his four double-digit games were the most since Emmanuel Ellerbee had six in 2017.
The former walk-on was nominated for the Burllsworth Trophy, which goes to the top FBS player who began his career as a walk-on and was named to the American All-Conference third team.
Awe is the Owls' active career leader with 195 heading in the Armed Forces Bowl against Texas State on January 2.
