•This is the 14th meeting between the two schools, with North Texas leading 8-5, and the first as members of the American
Conference and the fourth on Rice's Senior Day.
• UNT has won the last three meetings, with Rice's last win coming on Senior Day in 2019, 20-14, the Owls' lone win on Senior Day against the Mean Green.
• The series began with a non-conference meeting on Senior Day in 1988 at Rice Stadium when the Mean Green, who were headed to the 1-AA playoffs, stormed to a 33-3 lead and won 33-17.
• UNT downed Rice 30-14 in 2017 on Senior Day in David Bailiff's final game at Rice.
• The schools met 10 times as members of C-USA (UNT led 7-3)
• Rice evened the series with a 77-20 win at Rice Stadium in 2008 as the Owls scored their most points in a game in the modern era, winning 77-20. Chase Clement and Jarett Dillard etched their names into the NCAA record book, becoming the most productive duo in NCAA history by combining on three touchdown passes to raise their career total to 41. They went on to finish with 52.
• The Owls won the final game in a non-conference setting, 33-32 at Fouts Field on 9/11/10, thanks to four field goals from Chris Boswell.

Prior to kickoff, Rice will salute current and former players with its first-ever Senior Night. The players comprise those who are completing their eligibility at the end of this season, either as undergraduates or graduate students, as well as some who will complete their senior academic

•Saturday's meeting with #22 North Texas will be the Owls' third against a ranked opponent at home in the last three years, all of which have been against American Conference opponents (#25 Memphis this season and #22 SMU in 2023). This is the first time Rice has hosted two ranked conference opponents at home in the same season since 1989, when the Owls were members of the Southwest Conference and lost to #21 Texas A&M 45-7 and #11 Arkansas 38-17 on consecutive weekends.
•Scott Abell needs one win to move past Al Conover and Ken Hatfield for the third-most
wins by a Rice football head coach in his first season.
•Chase Jenkins needs 78 yards rushing and 115 passing to become the fourth quarterback in school history to have at least 500 yards rushing and 1,000 yards passing in the same season.
