AAC Announces Football Scheduling Model for 2025

Rice will host Florida Atlantic, Memphis, North Texas, and UAB
The American Athletic Conference announced on Thursday its schedule model for the 2025 football season after it was approved earlier in the week by The American's athletic directors.
Rice will host Florida Atlantic, Memphis, North Texas, and UAB in 2025 and will travel to Charlotte, Navy, South Florida, and UTSA. The full 2025 conference schedule will be announced in February.
This will mark the fifth straight year Rice has faced Charlotte and UTSA, while the Owls' trip to Annapolis to face Navy will be their first since 2004
The 2025 season will be The American's second in its current 14-team configuration. The schedule format calls for each team to play eight conference games, with four home games and four road contests for each team.
The scheduling format fulfills several objectives set by the conference. There are no matchups played at the same site from 2024 to 2025. Each team will play at least one road game in the Eastern and Central time zones, and each team will have played at least one road game in Texas in two years.
The American will continue with a single-division format in 2025. The top two teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the American Athletic Conference Championship Game.
Rice continues preparations for the 2024 season opener on August 31 against Sam Houston at Rice Stadium.
Single-game tickets for all six of Rice's 2024 home football games are now on sale starting at $22 online at TicketMaster or by calling (713) 348-OWLS (6957). Owls' fans also have the option to secure their same seats for all six games by purchasing season tickets or they can create their own customized two or three-game mini plans.
