2024 Season Debut
The 2024 season kicks off Thursday night as the Owls welcome Texas State to Holloway Field. Rice will continue the short two-game homestand to open the season on Sunday afternoon against Navy.
Rice vs. Texas State
The Owls and Bobcats meet for the 12th time in the series history, with Rice holding a 6-3-2 all-time lead. Rice has won six of the last eight meetings, including the last four at Holloway Field.
No Place Like Home
Rice will open the 2024 season with eight of the team's first nine matches being played at Holloway Field. The Owls hold a 129-58-22 all-time home record.
Killgore Returns Home
Bella Killgore, who played her college days with Rice from 2018-22, returns home for the 2024 season after being hired as the team's Goalkeeper Coach. During her five-year career, Rice captured two regular season titles and one CUSA tournament title (2020-21), where the Owls advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. She was a two-time CUSA Goalkeeper of the Year, two-time All-CUSA First Team and a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region honoree in 2021.
Preseason Honors
Three Owls were named to the 2024 AAC Preseason Watch List with Leah Chancey, Faith Hutchins and Carsyn Martz all earning honors. The Owls were selected 10th in the AAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
2024 Recruiting Class Tops AAC
The Owls had big-time commitments with four grad transfers and six freshmen for the 2024 recruiting class, the top-ranked recruiting class in the AAC and 32nd-ranked class in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer.
