DALLAS – Rice women's basketball all-time great Jessica Kuster is set to be inducted into the Conference USA Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024, the conference announced Monday morning. Kuster becomes the fifth Rice inductee and first Rice women's basketball inductee in the CUSA Hall of Fame.
"I am thrilled that Conference USA is recognizing Jessica's achievements as a Rice student-athlete by inducting her into the CUSA Hall of Fame, an honor she very much deserves," said Shelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds. "She had such an illustrious career here that you cannot talk about our program or CUSA women's basketball without mentioning Jessica Kuster. Her name will forever be in the record books, and one day, her jersey should hang in Tudor Fieldhouse. Jessica's Rice basketball family is incredibly proud of her and will always be grateful to her for the many ways in which she helped our program grow."
During her four years with the Owls from 2010-14, Kuster's career remains unmatched in Rice history. The all-time leading scorer in Rice history (women or men) with 2,081 points, Kuster still holds the program and CUSA record in career rebounds (1,376). She is also the program leader in career field goals made (745) and career free throws made (550).
She became the fastest athlete in Rice history to surpass 1,000 career points, doing so in just two seasons and two games into her career.
Kuster is also the Rice and CUSA leader in career double-doubles, amassing 67 throughout her career. She is the only athlete in program history to average a double-double in all four seasons and one of two female athletes to do so in CUSA history.
Her awards and honors include being the only player in CUSA history to be named to both the First Team All-Conference and the All-Defensive Team all four seasons. She is also the only four-time recipient of the Hackerman Award in school history, presented to the team MVP.
During her senior season, Kuster was named a 2014 Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention. She was the 2013 CUSA Defensive Player of the Year during her junior campaign and was the 2011 CUSA Freshman of the Year, earning CUSA Freshman of the Week honors in 11 of the 17 weeks awarded.
Kuster joins Natalie Beazant (2020, women's tennis), Jarett Dillard (2019, football), Wayne Graham (2019, baseball) and Anthony Rendon (2019, baseball) as the Rice inductees in the CUSA Hall of Fame.
