HOUSTON – The American Athletic Conference has released home and away opponent pairings for the upcoming 2024-25 season, which will feature an 18-game conference slate with six opponents being played twice and six opponents only once.
The Owls will host Florida Atlantic, North Texas, South Florida, Tulane, UAB, UTSA, East Carolina, Memphis and Tulsa.
Rice will travel to Florida Atlantic, North Texas, South Florida, Tulane, UAB, UTSA, Charlotte, Temple and Wichita State.
The Owls (19-15, 9-9 AAC last season) will look to defend its 2024 AAC title, after winning four games in four days to become the lowest seed (10) to win the AAC tournament a season ago. Rice secured its fourth-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, where the Owls fell to the then-reigning champion LSU 70-60 in the opening round.
Shelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds enters her fourth at the helm and looks to continue and already historic resume with the Owls. In her first three seasons, Edmonds holds the most wins, became the only coach to open their career with back-to-back-to-back winning seasons in program history and became the fastest coach in program history to win a conference title.
The complete conference women's basketball schedule with dates and times will be released at a later time. The first conference dates will be Dec. 29, 2024 and league play will run through March 4, 2025. The 2025 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship will be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on March 8-12.
