
Women’s T&F Heads to UH for Tom Tellez Invite

HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team will have one last meet of the regular season this Friday at the University of Houston's Tom Tellez Invitational. The Owls will head to the AAC Championships next week in San Antonio.
In total, the Owls will have 23 athletes competing across 15 events. Along with Rice, schools competing are Houston, Houston Christian, Lamar, Loyola-New Orleans, Southwestern, St. Thomas, TAMU-Kingsville and Texas Lutheran.
Rice currently has several athletes in the top 50 of their respective events in the NCAA: Mckyla Van der Westhuizen (6th – javelin), Josie Taylor (8th – high jump), Alice Taylor (9th – high jump), Tara Simpson-Sullivan (17th – hammer throw), Ginnie Okafor (23rd – triple jump), Kennedy Gamble (30th – 100m) and Savannah Simms (46th – triple jump).
