HOUSTON – Shelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds announced Wednesday morning the addition of Victoria Flores to the Rice women's basketball team as a transfer from TCU. Flores arrives to South Main with three years of eligibility remaining with the Owls.
"We are thrilled to add Victoria to our family. As someone we recruited very heavily out of high school, having the opportunity to sign her with three years of eligibility left is extremely exciting for us," Edmonds said. "Vic has all the intangibles that you look for in a point guard. She is a floor general with great court vision, plays with emotion and energy, and her Big 12 experience will be a tremendous asset to our team. Vic stretches defenses with her ability to shoot the three, but is skilled at getting downhill to create scoring opportunities. Our fans are going to love watching her play!"
With TCU, Flores appeared in 23 games, with six starts, averaging 3.6 points per game in just over 14 minutes played per game. Flores led the Horned Frogs with 19 points off the bench against Prairie View A&M, the most scored for a TCU freshman in a decade. She dropped seven points, including the go-ahead bucket, five assists and four steals in her first collegiate start against UCF. Flores finished the season shooting 32.5% from three-point range and 74.2% from the free-throw line.
A 5-7 guard from West Dallas, Texas, Flores was a consensus four-star recruit coming out of Duncanville High School, where she was the No. 81 overall prospect in the 2023 class in the ESPN HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings. During her junior year, she averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.1 steals, being honored as the District 11 Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Flores will join Aniah Alexis (Waller, Texas) and Jill Twiehaus (Tulsa, Oklahoma) as part of Edmonds' 2024-25 recruiting class.
