Owls Host Grand Slam School Day on May 14

Start time moved up to 11:30 a.m.
Rice will welcome hundreds of area students to Reckling Park on Tuesday, May 14 for the Owls' first Grand Slam School Day when they host Texas Southern, with the first pitch now scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The game against the Tigers will close out the Owls' 2024 home schedule.
This will mark the earliest start weekday time for a Rice baseball game at Reckling Park since the ballpark opened in 2000.
Despite the move to an earlier start, the 713 Night promotion, in which fans can purchase tickets for $7, and enjoy $1 hot dogs and $3 beer at the concession stands, will take place as planned.
Similar to the Owls' annual Schoolhouse Mania promotion in basketball that has become a staple each December, Grand Slam School Day is a field trip day for local schools to attend a Rice baseball game during the school day that includes STEM-related activities and a trip to campus to introduce potential future students to the campus experience.
Tickets remain for Grand Slam School Day and additional schools interested in joining the fun can indicate their interest by filling out this form.
