Women's Tennis Falls to LSU, 4-1

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Rice women's tennis fought hard but ultimately fell at LSU, 4-1, on Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex.
Doubles: The Tigers took the early lead in the match courtesy of respective 6-3 and 6-2 wins at the second and third positions of doubles play. At the first position, senior Federica Trevisan and graduate senior Chie Kezuka battled to a score of 4-5 at the time the doubles point was clinched.
Singles: Trevisan continued her torrid start to the season, winning her fourth-straight match at the fist position of singles play. Trevisan posted a straight-sets 7-5, 6-3 victory to put the Owls on the board. Wins at the third, fifth and sixth positions, however, clinched the match for LSU. At the time the match was clinched, Kezuka had forced a third set at the fourth position with a 6-4 victory in the second frame. Meanwhile, sophomore Darya Schwartzman had also started a third set at the second position, having her match suspended with a 7-6, 2-6, 0-1 scoreline.
