Kraule Breaks Two School Records in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE – The Rice women's track and field team had a great weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic with two broken records and ten top-10 finishes throughout the two-day meet.
Eliza Kraule highlighted the Rice performances by smashing her own school record in the pentathlon with 4276 points, one point off from the AAC all-time record. The previous record was 3981 points, set by Kraule back during the 2022 season. She also set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.37 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 8.42s set by Funmi Jimoh in 2004.
Tara Simpson-Sullivan had a strong showing in the weight throw, finishing second with a throw of 20.86m. Josie Taylor finished second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.81m, while sister Alice Taylor was sixth with a clearance of 1.71m.
Over on the track, Taigen Hunter-Galvan finished sixth in the 600m, while the 4x400m relay team took tenth.
