Women's Tennis Announces Maguina as Mid-Year Enrollee

HOUSTON - Rice women's tennis head coach has announced the addition of Francesca Maguina as an addition to the spring roster. With the addition, the women's tennis roster will boast nine competitors for the spring.
"We are so excited for Fran to join our team and look forward to her arrival on South Main in January," said head coach Elizabeth Schmidt. "Not only has she established herself as one of the best junior players in the world but she also will fit in great with the culture of program. She is hard working, growth minded and will make a positive impact both on and off the court."
Maguina joins Rice from Lima, Peru, where she graduated from Liceo Naval Almirante Guise. In competition, she was a J300 Semifinalist, a two-time J200 Finalist, and a two-time Billie Jean King Cup Competitior, where she posted a 4-5 record in 2024. Maguina posted a ITF Juniors ranking of 77, and was the top ranked player in the Peruvian National rankings and the COSAT U16 rankings.
Maguina and the Owls will begin the spring season in January. The full spring schedule will be announced soon.
